Public benefits and tax administration
Connecting tax filing with safety-net eligibility
I have spent 15 years helping families claim the tax credits and benefits they qualify for: at a free tax site, a city revenue department, a national nonprofit, and a state human services agency.
The same families file taxes, apply for SNAP and renew Medicaid. They usually do it at different offices, on different forms, months apart. My work builds the links between those systems: navigators at tax sites, text campaigns that reach families a program already knows, and filing options that work when offices close.
I serve on the IRS Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee, in its State/Government Subgroup.
